Yvonne Ailene Boies

January 16, 1940 — January 24, 2017

Yvonne
Yvonne Ailene (Fox) Boies was born on a farm near Strafford, OK on January 16, 1940. Due to the weather, her father's truck got stuck in the mud and they could not make it into the hospital. She attended school at a small country school through third grade as the only student in her grade. When her family moved to California, she was ahead of her peers and able to skip a grade. Her family travelled through California and Oregon in the summers working in the fields in various types of agriculture. She graduated from Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia, CA at the age of 16. Yvonne worked in office positions after graduating from high school. Due to a near fatal car accident in which her back and pelvis were crushed, she was in a full body cast for six months. This resulted in severe lifelong pain, of which she seldom mentioned.
She married Donald James "Jim" Boies in 1958 after he got out of the Navy. She had met dad when both were working in a bean field in Aumsville, OR when she was 15 and he was 17. They moved to Woodland, CA, where their first child Sandra Ailene was born. Soon after they, returned to Aumsville, OR where Sherri Lynn, followed by Donald Milton were born in Stayton. They moved again to Cottage Grove where Dena Marie, was born in Roseburg.
Upon returning to the Salem area, they settled in Sunnyside, on Jackson Hill Road. In 1973 they built a home on their property, doing much of the work themselves. Yvonne also started work for what would become the Agri-Pac Canary. She and dad moved to Montana for a few years after dad's job at Boise Cascade paper mill came to an end when the plant closed. They were, at that time raising their grandson, Fred James, whom they would later adopt. Upon moving to Sunnyside, Yvonne took another position with Agri-Pac, where she worked until her retirement. In the meantime, mom and dad adopted their granddaughter, Kaeanna Lynn. Mom often filled in as a substitute aid at Rosedale Elementary for several years. She was taking care of her granddaughter, Violet Mary, when Jim suffered a fatal heart attack. She mourned his passing, the love of her life. They had been married for 56 years. Not wanting to stay in the country by herself, she moved into town with her daughter, Sandra.
In the weeks following the diagnosis of advanced ovarian cancer, she was visited by her children Sherri (Rod) and Donald (Patricia); grandchildren Donald Comeaux, Tanya Richardson and Shannon Moreno; and nieces Geri Mitchell and Rhonda (Bruce) Bernards. She took delight in the many cards, phone calls and visits from special friends from work, members of Liberty Christian Church, Pastor Jerry Syngney and his wife, and especially the Bridges' family. Yvonne also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life is planned at Liberty Christian Church, 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017. After cremation, her family will place her next to Jim, and their youngest daughter, Dena Marie, whom preceded her in passing, at the Aumsville Cemetery. Much love to Sandra Ailene, her daughter, that became her care giver in these final weeks.
