Willie Anderson, 92, of Turner, Oregon passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on November 4, 1925 in Augusta, Arkansas to Charlie and Dollie Hawks, one of nine children. She spent her formative years growing up and working on the family farm in Augusta.
She married Roy Anderson on March 4, 1944 in Weldon, Arkansas. They later divorced in 1967.
She lived in Augusta, Arkansas until moving to Watsonville, California in 1955 where they raised their 3 children. While living in Watsonville, she worked at H. A. Rider & Sons apple plant for many years. She later worked as a care provider in a care facility, as well as doing private care for several years. In 1985, she made the move to Beaverton, Oregon to be near her children. In 1989, she moved to the Willamette Valley, and settled in Turner, Oregon.
She was a strong-willed, independent woman throughout her life but was always ready to help with an open heart and hand for anyone who needed her. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening, crossword puzzles, card games and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed visiting family in Arkansas.
She is survived by her son, James (Phyllis) Anderson of Salem, Oregon, daughters Shirley Simmons of Turner, Oregon, Rita Anderson of Beaverton, Oregon, and sisters Josie Fitzpatrick and Lottie Bowen, both of Augusta, Arkansas. Willie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wesley Hawks, Aaron Hawks and Clamon Hawks, and sisters Edna Overstreet, Fanny Rinehart and Ruth Bryant.
