KEIZER – William “Bob” Pipkin
May 7, 1940 – December 1, 2020
Bob passed away peacefully into Heaven weeks after receiving a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, cared for and loved by his wife, Marie. Bob was born in Hugo, Oklahoma to William and Myrtle Naomi (Payne) Pipkin. He eventually settled in Sweet Home, Oregon with his family in 1952; graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1958; married Carol Burks; and moved to Salem. Bob served 6 years in the Air Force and National Guard, and worked for the Oregon Department of Revenue for 35 years as a property appraiser. He was a man of faith, and an active member of Salem First Church of the Nazarene.
Bob had a passion and natural gift for auto mechanics, and won awards for classic cars he restored and showed. In the last few years he volunteered in a trade program for at-risk high school students.
Bob married Marie Worman Winger in 2007, and spent his remaining years together with her visiting bird sanctuaries, traveling, gardening, and feeding his treasured wild birds.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Glyndale Klemp and Joyce Duncan, and his first wife, Carol. He is survived by Marie, his daughters, Charisse Opie and Carmelle O’Dell (David), youngest sister Beverly Harman (Michael), stepdaughters Marlene (Kevin) and Valerie (Richard), stepson Gary, eight grandchildren, and four great-grand-children.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 12 at Gililand Cemetery, 4990 Airport Rd, Sweet Home, OR. Memorial gifts may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone NC 28607. Arrangements are by Keizer Funeral Chapel.
