Walter Gibson

October 16, 1926 — April 5, 2016

Walter Gibson 89, of Keizer died April 5th in Woodburn. Walt was born in Oakland, California to Lawrence and Ethel (Doolittle) Gibson. Walt attended school in Richmond, California. In 1943 Walt enlisted in the Navy where he spent three years and nine months.

In January of 1949 Walt enlisted in the Air Force. While serving his country he spent time in Japan and Korea as a radar operator and radar navigator. Walt retired from the Air Force at Camp Adair in 1968 as a Chief Warrant Officer Four.

Walt married Billie Louise Humphrey in 1946. Together they had five Children. They divorced in 1983. Walt married Linda Haskins in 1984.

Walt lived many years in Polk County where he was a General Contractor and also worked for the Polk County Housing Authority.

Walt loved to play golf. At McNary golf course Walt made eight holes in one. Because he made so many holes in one, they began calling him Ace.

Survivors include his wife of thirty two years, Linda, brother, Tim Gibson of Ohio, sons, Ted (Patty), John (Kris), Jerry(Gwen), daughter, Betty McKibben (David), stepson, David Kaehler, stepdaughters, Kathy Davies (Bob), Joni Smith(Ricky). Walt has fifteen grandkids, nineteen great-grandkids and two great-great-grandkids.

Walt was preceded in death by his daughter Sharon Carver and his sister Bette Owens.

Interment will be May 17th at Willamette National Cemetery.

A celebration of Walt's life will be held Saturday on May 21, 2016 at McNary Golf Course at 2:00 p.m.
Contributions are suggested to Serenity Hospice, 285 Liberty Street N.E. Salem, Oregon 97301. Flowers for the memorial service may be sent to McNary Gold Course on May 21st.
