Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother
Vivian Arlene DeWitt, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at her home in Monmouth, Oregon with her family by her side.
Vivian was born January 3rd, 1926 at Camp Point, Illinois to Percy and Zeffie Bolt. The Bolt family soon moved to Hollister, California. In her late teens she was introduced to her brothers WWII Army buddy, James Raymond DeWitt. Who would have known this relationship would last nearly 61 years getting married just after her nineteenth birthday, January 31st, 1945.
During the mid-sixties the family moved to Oregon's mid-Willamette valley, settling in Carlton and later moving to Salem in which most of the family still lives today.
Vivian was always on the go, putting her family at the top of her priority list. She knew how to make a house a "HOME". With her husband James being a long haul trucker he was away for most of the week. Vivian was not only mother she was part-time father too.
When it came to being involved in any activity she gave it 110 percent. From owning her own clothing store to giving her all at her local Church. Even most recently many remember Vivian as their Sunday School teacher from over 50 years ago. She always made Christ the center of her life.
For the past three years Vivian resided at Jason Lee Manor in Salem, Oregon. She often talked so highly of the residents and staff there, enjoying so many of the friendships and activities offered.
Vivian is survived by her children, J. Mark DeWitt, Valarie DeWitt, and Maynard DeWitt, Sr.; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, with too many to count.
She was preceded in death by her husband James DeWitt, her daughter Pamela (DeWitt) Boge, and her grandson Bryan Boge.
