Portland area resident Tom S. Eason died December 30, 2018, at the age of 92.
Tom was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 24,1926 to David and Orris (Howe) Eason. After moving to Los Angeles in his early teen years, he graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1944. He joined the army that year and was honorably discharged in 1946. He continued his education at UCLA, earning a bachelor's degree in math, and doing graduate work in math and electrical engineering, obtaining a general secondary teaching credential. He taught junior high math for a year. In the years to follow he had various computer-related positions in the aerospace industry in the Los Angeles area. He moved to the San Francisco bay area in 1974 to take a management position at Stanford Research Institute where he completed information systems projects for an airline, a large bank, and electronics manufacturers, leading seminars at each in the fields of EDP security, audit and control. In the bay area he also worked for Systrin Information System Consultants, and retired from Wells Fargo Bank (VP- Financial Systems). His hobbies have included stained glass, astronomy, and choral music, which he pursued beyond retirement.
He is survived by his 3 daughters: Debby (Richard) Burnham of Dallas, OR; Anne (Greg) Costello of New York City, NY; and Beth (Mat) Faure of Redwood City, CA.
Also surviving him are 5 grandchildren: Andy (Leighann) Burnham, David (Anna) Burnham, Kelly Burnham, Garrett Faure, and Brooke Faure.
Surviving him as well are his 3 great grandchildren: Hallie Burnham, Joey Burnham, and Sophia Burnham.
The memorial service is January 19th at 10:00 am at Salem Alliance Church - Courtyard Room.
