Tom was born in Fullerton, California to parents Samuel and Mildred Davis. He grew up in southern California and met his wife, Beverly Ann Nelson while working at a Woolworth's store in early 1960. He enlisted in the Air Force in April 1960. On May 19, 1961 Tom and Bev were married and remained together for 55 years until his passing,
Tom and Bev traveled to many places including Nebraska, Washington, Japan, Hawaii and California throughout Tom's 20-year enlistment in the Air Force. Tom retired from the service in 1980 and the family settled in Salem, Oregon. After retiring from the Air Force, Tom worked for the State of Oregon in several capacities until retiring from there and working for Capitol Auto Group as a Systems Analyst.
Tom had a great sense of humor and made people laugh with his quick wit and "Tom-isms".
He is survived by his wife Beverly Davis of Salem, OR, daughters Shari Davis, also of Salem, and Melissa Davis; son-in law Chris Varas and Grandson Alexander of Bellevue, WA; and brother, William Davis and his wife Donna of San Diego, CA.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Village at Keizer Ridge for the excellent care and attention provided to Tom over the last 9 months.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, the Willamette Humane Society or Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Services have been held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.
