Stuart Ralph Matthis

Salem - Stuart R. Matthis, 75, passed away on October 28, 2012 in Salem.
Stuart was born to Claude and Rachel Matthis. He graduated from South Salem High School. He was in the U.S Air Force and was proud of his service in the military. He served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Department of Corrections in 1994.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, with whom he shared a 33 year marriage. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother Bruce. His other hobby that he was very talented in was his woodworking. He spent some of his younger years in Alaska.
He is also survived by his brother Bruce Matthis and sister Suzanne Jones, his son Sean Matthis and step children Debra Dillard, Chris Alumbaugh and Cory Alumbaugh. He had 4 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He will be missed here on earth, but is now in the hands of his Lord and Savior whom he loved.
His memorial service will be held at Keizer Funeral Chapel on November 5th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be donated to Willamette Valley Hospice.
