Steven Wayne Smith

Steven “Steve” Wayne Smith was born April 8, 1947, in Coos Bay Oregon and to Florence “Flossie” Lenore Smith and Franklin Ray Smith. His brother Stanley ray smith was born two years later.

Steve graduated from North Bend high school in 1965. While in high school him at the love of his life, Mollie Ann Royce. They married on July 9th, 1966, surrounded by family and friends. Steven enlisted in the US Navy in April 1966 date and was stationed In San Diego and Philadelphia, PA. He served in the Vietnam war aboard the USS New Jersey battleship for his time in the Vietnam.

While in Vietnam, Steve & Mollie welcomed Melissa Ann on May 14, 1969. Steve returned from Vietnam in 1969. On April 4th, 1972, they welcomed another daughter Kristi Rene. They lived in various cities but spent the bulk of their adult lives in North Bend and Keizer, Oregon.

Steve was very driven in his career and worked for Cash & Carry for 31 years before his retirement. After retirement Steve and Mollie lived the “snowbird” lifestyle in their RV spending many months in Indio, CA and many cross-country trips. Steve and mollie moved to Noti in 2015. They returned back to Keizer in 2022 to be closer to medical care and assistance options.



Steve was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette in 1945, Father Franklin in 1961, and Mother Florence in 2011.



Steve fought hard to overcome esophageal cancer. It returned in February 2023 with a vengeance.



Steve is survived by wife, Mollie Smith of Keizer, daughter Melissa (John) Bain of Noti, daughter Kristi (Bill) George of Keizer, grandchildren Ashlie (Jason) Fahlman of Salem, Kade Gonzales of Keizer, Carson Bain & Nathan Bain of Noti, his brother Stanley (Stan) Smith of Surprise Arizona, and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
