Our Hearts are heavy. On June 29, 2020, Steve lost his battle with incurable cancer. Steve passed from this life to where the Lord was waiting for him. The night before his journey, Steve wanted to sit up. He put his arm around me and said, “don’t cry mom, I’ll see you in heaven.” His brother, Louis (Gus) and Mike were with him when he started his journey.
Steve, was born to Louis and Vicki Belgard on September 7, 1956 at the Seaside Hospital in Crescent City, CA. His family moved to Salem when Steve was 4 years old. They lived on the Chemawa Indian School campus until he was 14 years old. Steve went to school in the Keizer area.
Steve was of the Blackfeet and Yurok Tribes. Steve was a son, a brother, a father, uncle and a grandfather and a friend to many. His children are Don Hughes-Dustin, Storm and Rocky.
He worked at Ennis Flint in Salem as a paint maker. There he met good friends-thanks to all of you, Especially Cole and Wayne. Thank you to all at Willamette Valley Hospice. You’re Wonderful. Thanks Derick.
To all the Wonderful family members as Yellow Braids and The Tiger- We Thank You and Love You. That includes a special person, Carol Ann.
