Sharon Hansen, born on April 27, 1944, in Glacé Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada peacefully passed away on March 3, 2024, in Salem, Oregon. In the days leading up to her passing, she was surrounded by her loved ones. She resided in Keizer, Oregon, leaving behind a legacy that touched the lives of countless others.
Sharon, the daughter of William Harrison Delf and Margaret Jean Rogers, was united in marriage with Aage Hansen in Calgary, Alberta. Together, they were blessed with three children: Linda Perry (spouse Byron) of Parker, Colorado, Laura Hansen-Stewart (spouse Seth) of Keizer, Oregon, and Stuart Hansen (spouse Niki) of Independence, Oregon. Her love extended to her grandchildren Alisha, William, Ben, and Alaina and her great grandchildren Aria, Iris, and Sophia.
Sharon is preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Delf, while cherishing the continued presence of her surviving brother, Larry Delf of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Sharon dedicated her professional life to caring for others, making a lasting impact as a neo-natal nurse. She implemented the lactation program at Salem Hospital and expanded the lactation consulting program at Salem Pediatric Clinic. Her nurturing spirit brought comfort to countless families.
Outside of her career, Sharon found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her hobbies, including quilting, gardening, and baking, reflected her creativity and warmth. Sharon’s memory will live on through the quilts she crafted, the gardens she tended, and the delicious banana bread and caramels she shared.
In honoring Sharon Hansen, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with compassion, love, and a profound dedication to the well-being of others. May she rest in eternal peace.
In honor of Sharon, there will be a gathering of family and close friends in a private celebration. Anyone who knew Sharon understood she was driven by a spirit of paying kindness forward. In that spirit, we would ask in lieu of flowers, please find someone in your community in need of kindness and pay it forward on Sharon’s behalf.
