Robert James Thorley, 94, died July 7, 2021 at the Willamette Lutheran Retirement Center, Keizer, Oregon. He was born January 28, 1927 to Raymond and Mildred Thorley in Toledo, Ohio.
He served in the Navy near the end of WWII.
A 1950 graduate of the College of Pharmacy, University of Toledo, he retired from The Toledo State Hospital Pharmacy in 1987.
Following retirement, he and wife, Nancy, became flea market dealers for many years.
Bob enjoyed writing short stories, especially through the Writers Workshop classes at Owens Community College, and continuing after his move to Oregon. Many of his writing were published.
He and Nancy relocated to Oregon in 2009. Gradually, diminished hearing and vision impacted his life and activities.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and sister, Jayne Ferner.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nancy, daughter Jo Anna Jablo {Howard}, Salam, OR. , granddaughter Caroline Ramoz {Eric}, Bend OR and great grandsons Todd and Hank Ramoz.
The family gives thanks to Serenity Hospice and Grace Nursing Center, WLRC for their care in his final days.
Per his wishes, there will be no services held. The body will be cremated.
