Robert Rudolph Norton (Bob) age 96, died August 1, 2024 in Keizer Oregon. He was born January 20,1928 in Portland Oregon. He joined the Air Force as a mechanic in 1946 and was stationed in Japan
during the Korean War where he earned the Victory Metal. While on leave he met his beautiful bride, Gert Spear, and they married February 2nd, 1951. They were blessed with three fabulous daughters and
raised them in the Portland area. Bob and Gert enjoyed their acreage in Sherwood and eventually raised and sold U-cut Christmas trees during the holidays. Bob loved cars and could be found walking the car lots on Saturday mornings with his brother-in-law, Chuck. He was an excellent mechanic and was the go-to person when something needed fixed. As Bob and Gert got closer to retirement they could be found
camping at the beach in their motor home. Bob loved to run up and down the beach flying his kite. They also enjoyed frequent trips to Reno where they found their love of slot machines and would occasionally be “Big Weeners” playing Big Bertha. If you ever rode in the car with him, you would be singing to Frank Sinatra or dancing along to Boots Randolph Yakety Sax. He is survived by his wife Gert of 73 years, his daughters Linda (Jim), Janet (Dan), Kathy (Dave), and Blair (Jon). He has 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He will be missed very much and will be busy in heaven drinking a cold can of Miller Lite, eating Cheeze-its and snuggling with his fur babies.
