Robert Charles Galloway was born August 16, 1958 in Pomona, California. He passed away July 19, 2024. He was 65 years old. He was raised in California, lived in Keizer, Oregon for the last 6 years, and before that, in Washington for over 30 years.
His Father's name was Sammy Lee Galloway and his Mother's Name was Shirley Jane Schultz (deceased). Robert was deeply Loved and Cherished by his four siblings: Steve Medina (Spouse Kathy), Destine Deighan (Spouse Tom), Teresa Wood (Spouse Charles), and Shelly Barr (Spouse Jeff). He also had two step-daughters, Mackenzie Schill (Spouse Nick) and Kiersten Bonnes (Spouse Austin), his grandson Reid, and six nephews: Johnny, Richard, Nick, Ryan, Jeffrey, and Jared... Three Nieces: Kristi, Heather, Sarah, and a countless number of friends (too many to name) who loved and adored him.
Robert, "Bob" or "Brother" as known by his Family, left a priceless legacy to everyone who had the honor and privilege to know and love him. He was a very kind, caring and loving person.
Robert graduated from Ontario High School in 3 years, which is no surprised to anyone who knew him. He then went on to get his Teaching Degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz and continued his education for years to come, which is no surprise as to why he became a teacher, and taught for 30 years. Teaching brought him so much joy. He loved teaching science and getting the students excited about learning. He shared stories that made him so happy when his students would ask all kinds of questions and when he seen that they were not just understanding, but falling in love with science. It also blessed him when former students would come up to him and tell him, "I went to college because of you, Mr. Galloway", or "I became a teacher because of you", or "Thank you so much for making a difference in my life". He loved to hear how they were doing and said that's why it's all worth it. He said, "You'll never get rich being a teacher but you get something way more valuable". You've helped to make a difference in someone's life."
Robert also had a love for biking, gardening, nature and the great outdoors. He biked the Oregon coast at least 10 times with his dear friend. They also took a bike ride across the US, that took them 52 days. He said he loved every one of the adventures they took. He also loved to go on these beautiful nature walks with some of his good friends at places like Minto-Brown Island Park and so many others beautiful places in Oregon, but also when he went back to Washington to visit family and friends.
When Robert came to Keizer 6 years ago, he found two homes: his family home and his church family. The church he loved and attended was Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem. He was very involved and active in his church community and made lots of cherished friends.
Robert also spent countless hours turning his house into his home, or as he said, "My Sanctuary". Also, from researching plants and trees, to writing out plans, to designing where they would go, to planting them, and taking care of them and then getting to enjoy them every day, was such a Labor of Love, and one that brought him so much joy.
One of his favorite things was spending time with his two stepdaughters and their families, and spending time with his siblings, and nephews and nieces. From taken them camping, to teaching them all about Nature, to countless hours of walks, talks, playing Yahtzee and just being together. And also, all the time he spent with his Dear Friends, making those Forever Special Memories. Our Brother was a VERY rich man, because he was very LOVED and also LOVED. He knew that things were not valuable, BUT HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS WERE. He will be forever missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN.
We couldn't begin to write everything down about our precious brother. So, we would love if you would take the time to share some of your special memories, you have with him.
