Robert Lee Bass November 20, 1932 ~ August 30, 2015
Robert Lee Bass passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the age of 82. He passed away as he lived, bravely and peacefully, and surrounded by his family.
He was born November 20, 1932 to Harold and Juanita Bass.
Robert served in the US Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He graduated from Southern Oregon College. He served on the Oregon State Police for 26½ years. After retiring from Oregon State Police he worked for Capitol Investigation for 17 years.
He and his sweetheart, Betty Cantrell, were married for 43 years. Together they raised six daughters who were the joy of his life. Robert enjoyed serving his church, community and family. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings, but his main focus was on his family. His grandchildren have many fond memories of stories and the times he shared with them. His hobbies included wood/metal refinishing, carpentry, welding, handyman projects, and rock collecting.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty; their six daughters, Darlynn Hanna (Kelly), Cindy Slater, Joy Glocar (Dave), Candace Erb (Lyle), Kari Reese (David), Ronda Lenox (Brock); 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3 at 11:00am located at the LDS West Salem Chapel, 1850 Brush College Road NW, Salem, Oregon. He will be buried at the Willamette National Cemetery.
