Rex Arthur Davis, of Keizer, OR died at home February 13, 2024. He was 89.
Rex was born March 27, 1934, in Bell Gardens, CA to Anna (Woods) and Henry Davis.
Rex served in the US Navy from the age of 17 years old and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years. He completed his high school diploma while stationed in San Diego and earned his Bachelor of Science after his military retirement from Portland State University in 1981.
He was a devoted son, always returning home to his mother no matter where he was stationed. He
was married to the love of his life, Patricia, for 60 years. Together they raised their four children on a small farm north of Salem. He dedicated his life to being present for his children. He was a man of great integrity, instilling values of service, love, and kindness to all who knew him.
Rex had a unique ability to connect with people and “Never Met a Stranger,” as everyone was his friend. He was a strong male role model to many in his extended family and to friends and members of the community. He inspired many to live better lives and treat others with kindness and generosity.
Rex was a real estate broker for many years, co-owning Davis & Mooney Real Estate in the 1970’s and was a county appraiser from where he retired in 1999. He was president of the Keizer Merchant’s Association and a charter member of the Keizer Elks Lodge, continuing as an active member
throughout his life. Throughout his life, Rex contributed to his community in many ways such as coaching, Christmas Charities, delivering for Mealson-Wheels and numerous other charitable events and programs.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; siblings Leonard Smith, Frank Smith, and Frances Orsulich; and son-in-law Pablo Jaramillo. Rex is survived by his wife Patricia (Jones); children Ron (Pam) Davis of Napa, CA, Katie (Bill) Phelan of Salem; Christy Jaramillo of Salem; and Karen Lang, of Newberg; along with 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 16, 2024, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 5303 River Rd N, Keizer, OR 97303. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 17, 2024, at Keizer Elks Lodge, 4250 Cherry Ave NE, Keizer, OR 97303.
