Michael Mcquade

It is of great sadness that Michael G. McQuade from Salem Oregon passed away on
August 22, 2024, at the age of 88.
Michael was born in Lewiston Idaho September 1935 where he was adopted and raised
by Shirly and Jack McQuade. He attended the University of Idaho where he obtained an
undergraduate degree in political science. He later obtained his master’s degree by
attending graduate school as an exchange student in Norway and The Netherlands.
While studying at Leiden University in The Netherlands, Michael met his future wife,
Margaretha. In 1964 he moved back to the United States with his wife and newborn
daughter.
After arriving in the United States, Michael received a teaching position at The
University of Nebraska and later moved to Portland Oregon where he accepted another
teaching position at Portland State University. In 1970 he moved with his family to
Salem Oregon. There, he worked for the Oregon State Archives until his retirement.
During his retirement years, Michael and Margaretha were able to travel extensively to a
variety of countries.
Michael was a very kind and compassionate person who will be sorely missed.
Michael is survived by his, daughter Bridget, son Bryan, granddaughter Shannon, great
grandson Dylan and daughter-in-law Tu. At his family’s request, no services will be held
