Bookkeeper, Musician, World Traveler
Mary Antonette Jones was born to W. Martin and Emma (Enberg) Baisley in Astoria OR. She attended school in Westport, and graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1963.She married Michael H. Allen February 1, 1964. They had one daughter, and later divorced. A talented accordionist, she played with the "Polka Pipers" band in the late 60's, often playing for the Oktoberfest in Mt. Angel, OR. She also played for the "Edelweiss Inn" in Portland.
She married Harold R. Jones in May 20, 1974. Harold preceded her in death in 2010. They lived in Amarillo, Texas, where she was a bookkeeper for Kerr Paper, Blake Bros. and had her own business "ABC Bookkeeping Service" from 1974-1983. They lived on one income and saved the other for traveling. They took numerous trips, traveling to every continent in their 36 years of marriage. Returning to Oregon in the mid-80's, she worked for Warrenton Deep Sea until 1991, and then continued with her bookkeeping business. She worked for Northwest Housing Authority from 2001 to 2012.
Mary was an accomplished organist, and could be seen traveling Oregon with Harold in their 1963 "bread truck" while she acted as "State Installation Organist" for the Emblem Lodge. She made many friends along the way. She also enjoyed painting, and writing poetry. One patriotic poem, "Old Glory" won first prize at the Elk's State Convention for adult poetry and Americanism.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy A. Mathews, of Vancouver WA, and brother, Donald (and Mary Lou Baisley), of South Lyon, MI; a daughter, Amanda and son in law, Randy Jesse, of Keizer, OR; Grandchildren Nathan and Aleah Rieben, also of Keizer, who were her constant source of pride. She is survived by five nieces; Janie L.(and Tom) Cox, Jennifer A.(and Chris) Adolph, Deborah E. Baisley, Christie A Paciocco(and Adriano) Paciocco, Karen(and Mark) Hoover, and nephew Jeffery R.(and Lisa) Mathews, and by four adult step children; Charleen K. Fisher, Marleen K. Jones, Barbara M. Gottshall, Timothy(and Barbara) Jones.
Mary was known for her wit and warmth toward humanity. She made quick and lasting friendships, and leaves many friends from her school days sad at her passing. A brilliant individual, she had a passion for music and adventure that formed the texture of her soul. She had many songs inside her and lived in such a way that none of them were left un-played.
