Margurite Kanaga

March 4, 1925 — November 14, 2019

Marguerite Brown Kanaga was born on March 4, 1925, at home in the small town of Madison, Kansas, to Homer and Emma Brown.  She was one of 6 siblings, Evalene, Edna, Sam, Almeta, and Melvin, all who have preceded her in death.  Though battling many health challenges through her life, including bone marrow cancer, Marguerite lived the longest of all of her siblings.  She died peacefully in her home near Springfield, Missouri, on November 14, 2019.

Marguerite attended a two-room country school in Marion, Kansas through 8th grade.  She graduated from Russell High School, Russell, Kansas, in 1943.  She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri, in 1948.

Marguerite accepted Jesus as her Savior when she was 11 and lived her whole life as a devoted follower of Christ.  She met Lynn Kanaga in September 1947 at Central Bible Institute.  They were married in September 1948 in Palo Alto, California.  They dedicated their lives to full-time ministry and served as pastors and teachers throughout their work lives.  They retired to Oregon in 2001.  Lynn passed away in 2010, and Marguerite has lived with her children since that time.

Marguerite and Lynn have two children and their spouses, Lynette and Randy Robertson, and Val and Linda Kanaga.  She has 6 grandchildren, Robby, Amanda, Michael, Amber, Andrea, and Autumn, 20 greatgrandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.

Marguerite was known by all as a classy, beautiful lady, who loved her family well, never spoke an unkind word about anyone, and always had a positive outlook on life. She left a godly legacy of graciousness, generosity, and kindness.
