Genevieve Louise Craven
December 21, 1931 - January 20, 2015
SALEM - Louise Craven passed away at the age of 83. The strong heart that gave her the strength to raise three daughters pretty much on her own finally gave out.
Louise was born in Roseburg, Oregon to Thomas Jesse Wriston and Edith Irene (Richards) Wriston. When Louise was a young girl her family moved to Salem. She attended Grant Grade School, Parrish Junior High School and Salem High School. She lived and worked in Salem for most of her life, with brief stints in Texas and Nevada.
Louise enjoyed traveling. She was a real road warrior, not stopping until she was too tired to go on and everyone else was asleep. When she was in her camper, there wasn't a side road she didn't like. It was always an adventure traveling with her. You were never really too sure where you would be at the end of the day, but it was always fun. Louise collected coins and stamps and loved to peruse pawn shops and antique stores looking for treasure.
Louise is survived by her daughters Janis Johnston (Bill), Lori Snow (John Popinga) and Nancy Wood (Allan); grandchildren Amy Fast (Erik), Ben Johnston (Ashley), Thomas Hultquist, Kevin Wood, Jessica Wangler (Matt) and Jara Popinga; and great-grandchildren Ella, Hudson, Tylie, Mia, Slade, Morgan and Kolton.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Jesse Wriston Jr., an infant daughter, Molly Louise Lockman, and husbands Frank Lockman and Dick Lon Craven.
At Louise's request, no services will be held. A gathering to celebrate Louise's life will take place at, 3883 St Andrews Loop S in Salem on February 15 from 1-4 p.m.
