Lawrence R. Sheridan, age 68, passed away at the Salem Hospital of December 26, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on January 22, 1944 in Duluth, Minnesota. His parents moved to Salem, OR when he was two years of age and he attended schools in West Salem and North Salem High School. He joined the Oregon National Guard in 1962 and later opened a service station in Portland, OR. He loved to drive the big truck rigs with his father, Bud Sheridan, and drove for many companies, including J and A trucking, Capital City Transfer, Silver Eagle Trucking, and Kirkland Trucking. In 1988 he became the owner/operator of his own dump truck and trailer, continuing driving until medical problems forced him to sell it in 2006.
During retirement, Larry enjoyed fishing, crabbing,gold prospecting, and tinkering with a variety of projects in his shop. He was a member of the Millennium Diggers Prospecting Club and especially enjoyed working his dredge on the South Umpqua River and at Briggs Creek near Selma, OR.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marlea; daughter Shanna of Bellingham, WA; son Jared (Ja'net) Sheridan of Salem, OR; and two beloved grandchildren. His sister, Lynn (Gerry) Woock lives in Aumsville, OR.
Larry will be missed by his family and many wonderful friends. A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at the Keizer/Clear Lake United Methodist Church at 7920 Wheatland Road on January 5, 2012 at 2:00pm.
