JA famous writer once said "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give".
If that is true, then Jon Hewitt made a great life, he was a very giving son, nephew, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jon Linden Hewitt was born November 25th in 1940 in Corvallis, Oregon. His parents were Myron and Dorothy Hewitt. His brothers were Lee and Don and survived by Fred and Dennis.
Jon went to school in Eugene. His first job was to work with his older brother Lee moving furniture. He then went to work for the Forest Service and joined the National Guard, retiring from both.
In 1967 Jon met Lauralee Jackson and they were married just shy of 47 years. They had a son, Scott Hewitt and a daughter, Michelle who married Robert Strange. Jon and Lauralee had 5 grandchildren Nick, Jordan, Kailey, Courtney and Mckenzie.
Jon's passion was being very active in the Guard where he flew helicopters and later in the Eagles, serving as president and a state officer.
Jon Hewitt was a remarkably smart, stubborn and a fun-loving person. He was a person of great wisdom and humor.
Above all, he loved taking care of his wife and having his family together...
In closing I would like to share this poem with you:
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Jon Hewitt, thank you for being part of our lives. We are all going to miss you!
