Janice Nissen of Keizer, Oregon passed away at the age of 89 on May 19th, 2014 while in hospice care. Janice Oetinger was born in Portland, OR and attended grade school at the Madeline, and then Grant High School. She then attended Oregon State University from 1943 to 1946, graduating with a degree in Home Economics. She married James C. Nissen of Seattle, WA in 1950. Subsequent corporate transfers took them back to Seattle, then to Salt Lake City, UT; Whittier, CA and St. Louis, MO before eventually returning to the West Coast in 1969. They lived in Novato, CA for several years, with one last move down to Orange County before they retired and came home to Oregon. Janice and Jim had three sons: James Nissen of Campbell, CA; Robert Nissen of Littleton, CO; and John Nissen of Ballard, WA. Janice and Jim also have seven grandchildren. Janice was always involved in various activities during her retirement, including being president of the McNary Women's Golf Association. She was also on the Salem Hospital Auxillary, was active in the Meals on Wheels Program as well as devoting much time to activities involving her college sorority, Pi Beta Phi, over the years. Janice is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jim Nissen of Keizer. A Memorial Mass is scheduled at 11AM on Saturday, June 21st at St. Edward Catholic Church in Keizer, with a reception at the church to follow. - See more at:
