SALEM - Elsie Ann Gardner, 96, passed peacefully from this world to the next, surrounded by family, on July 31, 2017.
Elsie was born in Salem, Oregon on June 26, 1921, the seventh of eight children, to Carl Albert and Mary Frances Petzel. She grew up on the family farm north of Keizer. In 1958, she married Robert Gardner and settled on a farm in the Brooks area where they raised two daughters.
Elsie's unwavering faith in God and love of family provided her strength and joy throughout her life. She was a caring loving mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and keeping up with the grandkids which kept her young at heart. She will be forever missed.
Elsie is survived by her daughters, Mary Miller and Katherine Rank (Patrick); nine grandchildren; great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Robert, her parents and siblings Marie, Frances, Joe, Carl, Frank, Grace and Bill.
A Rosary will be held at St. Vincent's Catholic Church at 7:00pm Sunday, August 6, 2017. Funeral Mass will be at the church at noon on Monday, August 7, 2017 with reception following. Internment at Claggett Cemetery.
