KEIZER - Elna Landon was born Elna Florence Milligan, April 13, 1910, in Portland, Oregon to James and Lulu (Turner) Milligan. She attended grade school in the Sunnyside area and high school in Crabtree, Oregon after the family moved there. Her great-great-grandfather, John J. Crabtree, brought his family (which eventually totaled 15 children) to Oregon on a wagon train in 1845. They settled on a Donation Land Claim south of Scio, Oregon. She remembered stories the family told about local Indians coming to see the first white baby born in that area and bringing deer skin moccasins as a gift. Elna married Frank Burdick Landon in June of 1931. They moved to Brownsville, Oregon and had four children. In 1942, they moved to the Keizer area, where she has lived since. She was an enthusiastic golfer years ago, being a member at McNary Golf Club and then Woodburn Golf Club. After a friend persuaded her to join Royal Neighbors, she was a member until the group disbanded. Her entertainment of choice in later years has been playing cards and joining the Tuesday Pinochle Players at Keizer Area Seniors has brought hours of enjoyment and good friends. She played her last game on Dec. 4, 2012. Elna loved getting dressed up to go "out". She always wore coordinating outfits, with shoes, bag and jewelry to match. Elna's family includes daughter, Beverly Brazie of Keizer; son, Richard Landon (wife, Melinda) of Kerrville, Texas; and son, Max Landon (wife, Marlene) of Beaverton. There are 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren in the family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt, and daughter, Myrna, both in 1993. A Celebration of Life -103 years worth, is planned for April 13, 2013 at a time to be decided upon. Arrangements entrusted to Keizer Funeral Chapel.
