Elias E. Sabino was born to William and Guadalupe Carlos, on December 9, 1947. Elias was born on Sonsorol, one of many islands that make up the Republic of Palau. He was the second of three children that were adopted by Sabina and Eresak Sabino.
At his death on March 22, 2021, he was 73 years old. A month earlier, he celebrated 53 years of marriage to his wife, Marciana Sabino. Between them, they have 11 children, 18 grandchildren, and just recently, had their very first great-grandchild.
Throughout his marriage, Elias provided for his family the best way he could. He was always willing to sacrifice for his children’s education, faith, and health. This included relocating his family more than once for better opportunities. He led by example in his faith and always put his family’s health and well-being before his own.
He loved the island life he left behind--of fishing and farming, living off of the land--and dreamt to one day take his wife back to Sonsorol to live out the rest of their lives.
Elias will forever be remembered by his children and grandchildren for his humor, playful banter, and just being a man of few but effective words.
