Dorothy Bair

Dorothy Bair 08/23/1923 - 04/10/2008 KEIZER - Dorothy was born in Minneapolis, Minn to Arthur and Helga Miller. She moved to the Lake Labish area as a child. She graduated from Salem High School in 1941. In 1943, she married Delbert Bair of Clear Lake, Ore. They were married until his death in 1999. She is survived by her four children, Jackie George Stankey of Seal Rock, David Helen Bair of Gaston, Mary Jim Ernest of Scappoose, and Beth Dudley Nolting of Pullman, Wash. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Sara David, Rachel, J.C., Tess, Bill, Sally, Amanda, Meg, Nate Kia, and Lindsey; and her great-grandchildren, Mary Ella, and Else. She is also survived by other extended family and many other people who grew to consider her a mother. And of course, her beloved cats, Fred, Pixie, and Bob. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; her sister, Viola; and her parents. She and Delbert settled on the family homestead and she resided there for the next 60 years. She attended and supported Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church for over 60 years. As an adult, she returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Willamette Lutheran Homes, Salem General Hospital, and Chemawa Indian School until her retirement. Following her retirement, she was active volunteering in the community with Senior Meals, Blood Pressure Clinic, and her church. She enjoyed many activities including, tap and line dancing, water aerobics, walking, and gospel music. She was a lifetime learner, always ready to try something new. Her great passions were gardening, reading, and her family. Dorothy was a very content and resilient person. She was an encouraging, supportive, optimistic person. She had amazing interpersonal skills, and could make friends with anyone. A Committal Service will be held at Claggett Cemetery, Keizer OR at 12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life and reception at the Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday April 17. Family suggests memorial contributions to Senior Meals, Keizer Clear Lake United Methodist Church, or the Willamette Humane Society. Keizer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
