Donald Eugene Denlinger

August 28, 1931 — November 15, 2017

Donald Eugene Denlinger was born August 28, 1931, in Whittier, California, to Lowell and Helen Denlinger, and went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 15, 2017. In 1949 he became a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church; this is when Don committed his life to Jesus Christ. He married Marilyn Shoup in 1950 and they moved to Modesto, California where Don managed his walnut and almond orchard, and tended his grapes, which he sold to Earnest and Julio Gallo. His three eldest daughters, Debbie, Rebecca and Sarah were born in Modesto.

He moved his family to Dallas, Oregon in 1961. His fourth daughter, Michal, was born, and it was in Dallas that he started Northwest Enterprises Realty. He developed two subdivisions; Sherwood Forest and Bridlewood Estates. As the first German Baptist Brethren family in Dallas, he started that local church, as well as Dallas Community Church in later years. Don and Marilyn separated in 1977.

In 1982, Don met and married Tyrene Hampton. They lived in Dallas for several years, then moved to Keizer where they remained until Don's passing. Don and Tyrene taught ballroom dance classes together in the Salem area for many years.

Don was a wise, kind and generous man, and will always be remembered for his smile. He loved God's Word and became a lifelong student of the Bible. He traveled to Portland twice a week for eight years to attend classes at Multnomah Bible University. His favorite passage in the Bible was John 15 and he enjoyed teaching in light of the perspective he gained from tending grapes in his early years. He developed a passion for anything he considered worth learning.

Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tyrene; daughters Debbie (Scott) Fischer, Rebecca (Jerry) Flaming, Sarah (Tom) Humphrey and Michal (Mike) Custer, stepchildren Troy (Karla) Hampton, Trinisha (Rod) Wyatt, and Tregg (Shanna) Hampton; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife, Marilyn, mother of his daughters; and his sisters, Janet and Jean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Joy.
