Carol Boire

December 23, 1920 — April 18, 2018

Carol Ann Boire, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 18, with her children by her side.  She was born in Portland, Oregon, to Charles and Alma Bleeg.  She graduated from the University of Portland with a degree in nursing in 1942 and entered the U.S. Navy in September 1943.  She served as a Navy nurse on Treasure Island in San Francisco, California.  She was honorably discharged from the Navy in June 1946.

Carol married Leo Matthew Boire on October 2, 1948, in Portland, Oregon.  They made their home in Salem, Oregon, where Carol was a homemaker and wonderful mother to their four children.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in November 2002.  She is survived by her four children:  John (Patty), Mary (Kevin Jones), Barbara McVicar (Bruce), and Daniel (Judy).  She has 11 grandchildren:  Julie Rahsaan (Mike), Mike Boire, Tallie Jones (Mike Bajuk), Windy Duncan (Tim), Megan McVicar (Mike Andri), Matt McVicar (Sarah), Jason Boire (Caitlyn), Jeremy Boire (Libby), Tim Boire, Nate Boire, and Nicole Boire.  She has nine great-grandchildren:  Jordyn, Lewis, Audrey, Natalie, Everett, Mitzi, Bandon, Penny, and Charlie.  She is also survived by her brothers Charles Bleeg (Virginia) and Jerome Bleeg, and many nieces and nephews.

We will celebrate her life with a rosary at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 Columbia St NE, Salem, Oregon, at 10:30am on Thursday, April 26, followed by mass at 11:00am, with Rev. Joseph Heuberger officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, at 2:30pm.  Keizer Funeral Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements.
