BGEN ret Claude W. Biehn passed away on Aug. 17, 2009. He was born on Nov. 15, 1922, in Klamath County, Ore., and enlisted in the National Guard at age 15. He was a World War II veteran of the North African, Sicily, Italian Campaigns and an Anzio Beachhead survivor. Claude continued on in the Oregon Army National Guard as a reservist and began working full time in 1958, becoming the director of operations, chief of army aviation, and chief of staff achieving the rank of brigadier general. He retired from the army in 1982 after serving more than 42 years, the last four at The Pentagon. He was a past president of the Keizer Rotary International Club. Claude was also an elder as well as an active member of Keizer Christian Church and served on various Disciples of Christ church boards at regional and national levels. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Arlene Johnson Biehn; brother Roy Biehn; daughter and son-in-law Claudia Lee and Reno Pierotti; son and daughter-in-law Bradley Alfred and Sherrill Biehn; two grandsons Alexander Claude and Andrew Johnson Biehn. His son David Roscoe Biehn predeceased him. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at Keizer Christian Church, 6945 Wheatland Road N in Keizer.
