Betty J. (Carter) Kennell 91 passed away January 19, 2015 at Salem, Oregon. Born January 31, 1923 in Iowa, she moved to Peach, Washington in 1927 where she grew up and attended school at Creston. She moved to the Lake Chelan area in 1938.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the J C Penney Co. in Chelan from May 1956 until November 1972 when the store closed. She continued to work as a clerk and bookkeeper for other stores in the area.
Betty was a member of Chelan Eagles Auxiliary 2218 for over thirty years and served as Madam President in 1982. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 97 in Brewster.
She is survived by sons John Carter, Keizer Oregon, Tom Randolph and his wife Carolyn, Leavenworth, Washington, daughter Judy Woods of Safford, Arizona, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
