Betty June Christensen

December 14, 1929 — July 27, 2018

Betty was born to Luther and Beatrice Cease in Michigan on 12/14/1929 at the start of the depression and knew how to make things stretch. She moved to Oregon at the age of 13. Graduated from Hood River High School in 1948. Had four children (Tina, Julie, David, and Dan) in the 1950’s. Was a Cub Scout Den Mother for both sons. Became a Secretary for Marion County and the State of Oregon. She enjoyed walking and talking with the people she met and making pickles and preserves with the family. She liked to watch golf, take trips to the coast and cook up a mean dish of salmon. She lived in the Salem area the majority of her life. She always had something to say about everything, enjoyed meeting new people and telling her stories to them. She was a definite night owl preferring late nights and even later mornings.Betty is survived by children Tina and Dan, along with her brother Jack. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughter Julie Giebel, son David Johnsen, and brother Luther Cease.A Celebration of Life will be held at Keizer Funeral Chapel on Saturday Aug. 4th at 1:00pm. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.Betty June Christensen
