Arthur L. Mcintosh

January 27, 1948 — August 1, 2020

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Restlawn Funeral Home, Memory Gardens & Mausoleum in Salem for Arthur “Art” McIntosh, 72. Art passed away suddenly on August 1, just prior to undocking for a fishing trip with his beloved nephew, Tony Carson (Karyn Carson).Art was known to be a grumpy old man with a big heart. He was supportive of people who did not fit the social norm; he was dependable and put others first. He would give people opportunities for self-growth when others turned those people away. Art also had a quiet desire to learn as much as possible, building upon his intellect. He was incredibly knowledgeable and creative in a vast array of things.Born in Kearny, Nebraska on January 27, 1948 to parents Delmar McIntosh and Louise Temple, Art grew up with brothers LeRoy and Bob and sisters, Pat and Jackie in Madras, Oregon. It was at Madras High School where Art held the longest running record in track for 12 years, until his nephew Tony surpassed him.In 1987, Art met the love of his life, Mesme’ Tomason, with whom he spent the last 33 ½ years. The two attended many hot rod shows together and often arrived in his rebuilt 1950 Chevy. They were notorious for disagreeing on most things but had a deep respect and understanding of their love, not just for one another, but their family and dog as well.Art is preceded in death by nephews Dean and Craig McIntosh, sister, Pat Conner and best friend, Randy King. However, he is survived by life partner Mesme’ Tomason, sonAndrew McIntosh (Lea Fish), daughter Vanessa Tomason (Dustin Brown) and distant daughter Brenda Martin (Brent Martin). Art also leaves behind many nephews, nieces and four grandchildren with whom he was very close: Shadeah, Skyler, Damian, Baylee and Quincy. In addition to his immediate family, Art had a large street rod club family.Art was a U.S. Veteran, serving in the Army and stationed in Viet Nam. He received a purple heart and bronze star during his service. He was proud to serve his country and will be delivered to rest with Military Honors. He was a retired, self-employed chrome plater and avid hobbyist who researched a variety of things ranging from cooking to custom fabrication.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.keizerchapel.com/obituary/arthur-mcintosh
