Andrew Wilson
Born in Baudette Minnesota on Oct 23, 1931 to Sarah (Saddie) McQuade and Jay Judd Wilson and was the eighth of ten children. Andy left home at the age of 14 with his ten-year-old brother Buck, to work on the railroad. Andy married Arvilla Pugh on Feb 24, 1952 and together they had six children. Andy is survived by; Duane, Shirley Wait (Don), Pam Moffett, Steve (Judi), Debra Bowar (Doug), Sarah Wiley (Steve), nineteen grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
Andy and his family moved to the Salem area in 1960 and began a long career in painting. He enjoyed life most when he was hunting and fishing with family members in Alaska and Eastern Oregon. Andy moved to Alaska in the late '70's and enjoyed having relatives travel to the 49th state to hunt and fish with Andy and his nephew Joe Hoy. For many years, Andy and his nephew Joe Hoy and his wife Linda traveled to many ports on the eastern seaboard, the Caribbean, Central and South America on the Sailboat they built in Connecticut. In 1993, Andy moved back to Oregon and traveled back to Alaska for the summers. Andy was a long time member of many organizations: Legion, Elks, Knights of Columbus and Eagles.
He died peacefully at home with family at his side.
Services will be at 11:00am Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at St. Edwards Catholic Church Keizer, Oregon. Arrangements entrusted to Keizer Funeral Chapel.
