Obituary for Donald David Dick

Donald David Dick
Donald (Don) Dick of Keizer, Oregon passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Don was 80 years old.
Don was born on September 28, 1937 in Toledo, Oregon to John and Lillian Dick. He graduated from South Salem High School in 1955 and then joined the Army National Guard.
On October 10, 1958, Don married Marjorie Joyce Dyck and they had two daughters, Debra Lynn and Pamela Sue. Don and Marj just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in October.
While serving on the Army National Guard he started working at Meier and Frank in downtown Portland. He worked in Portland until the Meier and Frank opened the new store in Salem, Oregon and assisted with the opening of the new store. A little over 10 years later he was promoted to Manager of the Men and Boy’s departments at Lloyd Center. Later he was promoted to Assistant Buyer at the downtown Portland store. When May Company purchased Meier and Frank Don chose to move on to a new vocation at Williams Form Engineering in Portland. Later he took a position at Burke Concrete and Accessories in Portland as Operations Manager and worked there until his retirement in 2001.
After retirement Don and Marj started going to Yuma, AZ as “Snowbirds” starting in 2004 in the winter months until April 2017 when the Parkinson’s disease took over.
Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and woodworking. He also enjoyed listening to Hawaiian steel guitar music as Don played the steel guitar when he was around 11 years old.
Don is survived by his wife Marj, daughter’s Debi Miner (Dave), Pam Eshleman (Ron), 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 am.
